The Republican Governors Association (RGA) launched a digital campaign highlighting the leadership of Governor Jim Justice this week.
The digital ad highlights his efforts combating the COVID-19 pandemic and putting West Virginia on the road to recovery.
The ad recognizes that Governor Justice has been one of the most proactive governors in the nation in the fight against COVID-19. He declared a state of emergency and took key actions before a single positive case of COVID-19 was reported in West Virginia.
By taking early and decisive action, Governor Justice made West Virginia a leader in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19), and put the Mountain State in a stronger position to rebound.
A national study ranked West Virginia number one as the best state who responded to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report ranked how the 50 states have responded to the coronavirus pandemic and found West Virginia to be the most responsive state.
“We analyzed six key metrics including when the state saw its first confirmed case of COVID-19, when the state declared a state of emergency, and when the state issued a stay-at-home order,” the report says.
Governor Justice led the nation in announcing that all residents and staff members at every nursing home in West Virginia would be tested for COVID-19. Other governors have followed his lead and announced similar nursing home testing policies, including Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.
